教育部高等学校生物技术、生物工程类专业教学指导委员会委员。曾任中国植物生理学会理事、广东省植物生理学会秘书长、广东省植物生理学会副理事长。《植物生理学通讯》、《植物生态学报》编委,《热带亚热带植物学报》编委。1999年完成国家自然科学基金课题的研究论文在全国排名第6位,并成为2000年全国四十一位受国家基金委表彰的优秀论文作者之一。2003年获广东省自然科学三等奖, 2006年获广东省自然科学一等奖。2019年获中国海洋科学技术奖一等奖。
